I walk the shore of the manukau
each day in the early morn,
Tides changing daily
such beauty surreal,
with dew glistening damp
on the lawn.
There's a lovely full moon
in the clear morning sky,
reflected in puddles
catching my eye,
and it follows my progress
as i walk along,
listening with pleasure
to lovely bird song. I walk the shore of the manukau
each day's a complete surprise.
The waves are crashing
salt spray is splashing,
my hair is stinging my eyes.
White caps racing past
edged with frothy white swirls,
pushed along by the wind
like fluffy blonde curls.
south east or south west
maybe peacefull and calm,
pretty mirrored reflections
across of the farm.
Then fog like a blanket
can quickly descend,
and the dampness en-velopes
my senses no end.I walk the shore of the manukau,
take the winding path
right to the end.
Enjoying the ambience
and awesome views,
will always be my favourite place.
But comes May,
the ducks hear
that first warning shot.
So it's off to the mangroves,
and that's where they'll stop.
'Till duck shooting season
will thankfully end.
And peace reigns the
Shore of the manukau again.
