A Canal Trip in UK.

A couple of years ago my partner took 6 members of his family for a 2 week trip on the Canal Boats in England.

He had experienced this with just a few members of the family a couple of times before, but on this adventure he included another sister, who shall we say, was really more of a 5 star hotel consumer than a Canal enthusiast.

The lock work was difficult for the ladies but with his older sister who was more used to practical work, they managed the locks with ease. One day whilst my partner was standing at one end of the boat taking a video, and Ms. Practical sister steering, there was a shriek of ditsress, and both leaving their posts, moved as quickly as they could only to find the'5 star' sister, hanging over the side with one leg dragging in the water.

The boat began to steer itself, and between them they dragged and pullled '5 star' back onto the boat, doing their best not to laugh too much.

Soaked and very mortified, a quick shower and change of clothes was called for.

Now several weeks later when the family had returned to their homes, a family meeting was held to show photos and generally have a catch up on all the holiday news. Naturally the' falling in the canal' subject was brought up, and with a straight face, and brief comment '5 star' informed everyone that her 'designer pants' had been soaking in all manner of sanitising substances, but they were to be thrown into the bin, not even to be worn for gardening, as she could not entertain the though of wearing them as they had been contaminated in the dirty waters of Manchester.

Needless to say I had a little giggle.
