About the Author


This is Adrienne McDonnell's first novel. It was inspired by her ancestor, a woman who deserted her wealthy husband and young son in Boston to pursue her art in Italy. It is based on hundreds of family letters and memories of elderly relatives who have long been haunted by the story.
