Every day, more and more companies are joining the Social Media ranks in hope of creating a following and engaging with potential customers.

As a regular consumer of particular products and brands, why not have a look at what these companies are offering online, and maybe even check out their competitors and see who might be able to save you some money…

Here's a list of some places that might help you save money in future

Duty Free Stores NZ: their last competition on Facebook and Twitter in 2012 was for a lucky winner to receive a brand new 3D gazillion inch TV from Sony, along with smaller camera bundle prizes for other runners up. The way to enter was to just put your e-mail address in the entry form so they could contact you if you won, and share the competition with your friends if you wanted to get extra entries into the draw. Not bad.

Air New Zealand: constantly have Social Media specials, because they know these work! Air New Zealand are known for creating some great engagement and giving great deals to their Social Media followers. In early 2013, one of their most popular Offers was $150 off their next international trip on the airline. Almost 10,000 people claimed this offer in its first 24 hours of existence.

CQ Wellington:
The small hotel in Wellington central has been creating buzz online since it got into the Social Media scene. Their regular giveaways include big cricket game tickets, cocktail vouchers for interactive fans, two for one dinner deals, coffee giveaways and loads more – just keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter profiles!

Cotton On: Although more of a younger person's store, Cotton On do regular promotions online. Last Valentine's Day in 2012, they ran a competition where they asked Twitter users to tweet them a Valentines Day message to their account. The winners all received free t-shirts from the company. Everyone loves a free t-shirt!

Nivea Skincare: In 2012, the company set out an international search of who will win a round the world trip! What did Facebook fans have to do? Simple! Go onto the Facebook App the company set up, and tag themselves in a Map at their 'Favourite Place' in the world. It could have been a city, or a specific address or landmark. The result? Thousands of people joined the fantastic campaign, in hope that they will be a lucky winner. Not the best odds, but nevertheless, the company provided smaller prizes to keep fans engaged, and of course one lucky winner was chosen.

Whittaker's Chocolate in New Zealand: The company started a 'Tweet of the Week' hashtag, where every week, they ask followers to send in the funniest tweet they've seen that week, and the lucky winner who entertains them the best that week gets free chocolate! Awesome!

BurgerFuel: Are you eating at one of their restaurants? Be sure to mention them and their amazing food in a comment, and if you spot your tweet at one of their restaurants next time you're dining out, send them a message on Twitter, and they'll give you a free burger or two!

Nandos:
Regularly ask for funny jokes from users on Twitter. If yours makes the cut, you might be in with a chance to score some vouchers!
