Interesting body facts - hair and nails

Facial hair: the fastest growing hair on the human body.  In a lifetime, a male's beard could grow to over 30 feet!

Each day we lose up to 100 strands of hair (for people with full heads of hair).  Hair loss depends on season, pregnancy, illness, diet and age.

Men's hair is twice the diameter of women’s hair. Diameter also can depend on race.

Our fastest growing nail is on the middle finger on your dominant hand…shorter fingers grow shorter nails evidently.

Although it is suggested that we have as many hairs per square cm on our bodies as a chimpanzee, because most are too fine or light to see.

Hair colour is said to determine how dense the hair on our heads are. The average human has 100,000 hair follicles, each of which is capable of producing 20 individual hairs during a person’s lifetime. Blondes average 146,000, Black haired people about 110,000, brown hair are average and redheads have about 86,000 follicles.

Fingernails grow nearly 4 times faster than toenails. Hmmmm, not sure about that one?!
