101 Social Networking Challenge

Social Networking has been a hype in the world ever since the market realized they could make money off taking their products and services to the networks and communities that were forming online.

My Social Networking Workshops are usually filled with people wondering why and how Social Networking can possibly be better than the good old fashioned get-out-there-and-talk-to-people-at-functions concept.

Well, actually, I’m about to let you in on a huge secret.
 
Are you ready for it?
 
The concept of Social Networking is no different to normal networking.

Social Networking is just another way to connect with people, right?

The only difference is that through Social Networking, you’re now connected to the whole world – and it’s all just literally a click away!

However, for those sneaky ones who think that social networking will take less time than normal networking, you’re highly mistaking! You may be able to connect with the whole world in your pyjamas on the computer, but it’ll still take time to connect with people in a humane way.

Day in and day out I see people advertising their services and products online, but they’re completely missing the point. If I randomly went up to every person on the street and said ‘Hi! I’m Eva-Maria, buy my book it’s only $39.99 today, oh and let’s be friends!’. Fully wouldn’t work, right?

Same with social networking – you need a humane touch to yourself online, so keep it in mind – at the end of the day there’s a real person sitting on the other side, and especially in New Zealand when we don’t like to get sold to, you’ll still need to take the same amount of time to keep following people up, befriending them, and connecting in a humane way, and THEN at the end of the day, when they trust you, they’ll be able to trust any recommendations you give them for a service, product, or whatever else!
