Healthy dressings for summer salads

information supplied by wattie's

Nutrition and Health information supplied to GrownUps by Wattie's

With summer on the way it's a good time to remind ourselves of the range of dressings available that provide healthy options. The Weight Watchers and Eta Lite n' Free brands are both low fat leaders in the dressing aisle. With either no oil or low levels of polyunsaturated fat from canola or soya bean oil they make a healthy addition to summer salads. Look for the Heart Foundation Tick to ensure a low fat selection.

by Joybel 22nd May 2007 I would rather have a little bit of something I enjoy eating than fill myself up with watery lite dressings that lie in a puddle at the bottom of a salad. I enjoy Lite and Free Honey Mustard Dressing which clings to my salad and actually tastes and feels good. I would rather have a bit of butter once a day on my roll than magarine which has all those so called minerals and ingredients which I am unable to even pronounce. I even enjoy bread I slice myself with nothing on it. Food has become a competition between chefs who would not know a decent feed anymore. The TV chefs seem to wallow in food cooked in lots of oil and fat and laced with cream and wine as seen in the Rick Stein show. Then they produce a salad with zero calorie oil free tasteless dressings.
