Stop Worrying About Your Pills

Medication adherence – whether people take their medication on time - is a key issue for both people on medication and the health industry. To be effective medication should be taken exactly as prescribed. Strict regular intake is vital with some medicines.

Most people on chronic medication function perfectly in society - provided they take their medication on time. However current research shows that in New Zealand MORE THAN 80% of all medicine users occasionally MISS A DOSE of their medication. So we can safely say that 100% medication adherence is extremely difficult if not impossible.

Taking medicines every day - for the rest of your life - is hard enough. Always remembering to take them at the right moment and in the right dose is almost impossible or at least extremely disruptive for daily life.

Daily life should not revolve around medication

Medicine users shouldn’t have to spend time thinking about their medication at all. Training and lifestyle changes are not enough to achieve the precise management of personal medication.

Children need adults to tell them to take their medicine on time. Adults on chronic medication tend to have busy lives and are inconvenienced by intake schedules.  And when people grow older their short-term memory weakens.

Alarms on cell phones or watches can remind you to take your pills but they are easy to ignore or switch off. Will you actually remember to take the pills later on? Will you even have them with you?

The Pillkey® Medication Manager

The right pill, the right dose, the right time

The Pillkey® unites three key elements for medicine users: a detachable unit for the pills, an electronic unit with information about the pills and other medical data, and a medication intake schedule for up to 15 different medications each with an alarm.

For each different type of medication the Pillkey® alarm can be setup using intervals (for example, ‘every 3 hours’), which can be critical for the effectiveness of certain medications. For more general medicines, the Pillkey® alarm can be programmed to a clock time if desired.

The Pillkey® alarm can be a ringtone, a light or a vibration, or a combination of these options. It cannot be switched off. It will continue until you actually detach the medicine container from the alarm unit and hold it separately. You can then take your pills or give them to the person you are caring for.

Another important feature is the ‘Pillkey® Use Overview’. As people are often unsure whether they have taken their pills, The Pillkey® lets you check whether you have taken your medicine and when. This also prevents excessive or inadequate dosage and provides the reassurance that people often need.

In times of need

An ‘S.O.S. Emergency help page’ is installed in your Pillkey® for use by doctors or paramedics.

Wherever you are, the Pillkey® provides every medic with vital information about your medication history instantly, without wasting precious time.
