Regular Columnists on GrownUps
At Foot and Sole, we manage various foot conditions such as corns, calluses, ingrown toenails and more. We always ensure that each patient is thoroughly assessed and diagnosed before optimum treatment is provided. We work closely with physiotherapists, and provide advice on appropriate footwear, core stability and stretching exercises, as well as prescribing orthotics.
Every time your foot hits the ground, each component of the foot, ankle and lower limbs is affected. Podiatrists are experts in this interaction of body joints, which is known as biomechanics. Many foot and ankle problems are stress injuries, caused by inappropriate footwear and poor gait when running or walking. These injuries can often be treated using a combination of orthotics, appropriate footwear and activity modification.
If you’re still reading, then probably you or someone you know has a foot condition that needs attention. Not to worry, we at Foot and Sole can help. We are podiatrists, located on 260 Botany Rd, Golflands in Auckland, and we assess and manage various foot pathologies for men and women. Most of our patients are between the ages of 50 and 90 years old, but don’t let that stop you from contacting us if you’re outside that age bracket.
Hi, Elton Medell here from Foot and Sole. I am a licensed New Zealand trained Podiatrist and hold contracts with Northland District Health Board as well as PHOs. I provide secondary care to diabetic and arthritic patients, and in fact, I have a passion for the diabetic foot and spend a lot of time managing high risk patients with foot ulcers, gangrene and various other foot pathologies.
Through my contracts with Primary Health Organisations, I practice at various A&E centres in South Auckland and the Coromandel, providing primary care for low and at risk patients. I occasionally also do home visits for the elderly.
All our staff at Foot and Sole are trained in New Zealand and have experience in secondary and primary health care. ‘Podiatry with passion’ is what we’re about and we provide a high level of clinical competence. We value our patients and manage their foot conditions methodically, which results in a good prognosis, and get them returning to their normal daily activities as soon as possible.
