Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in the United States have now discovered a key mechanism in skeletal muscle deterioration and physical aging. Cumulative damage to muscle DNA and reduction of the DNA contained in an organelle called the mitochondria are the cause. Mayo Clinic endocrinologist, K. Sreekumaran Nair, M.D. says that Mitochondrial DNA is critical for the production of the chemical energy known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is vital for all cells and for all bodily functions.
When ATP is reduced, so is muscle endurance and the ability to produce many proteins necessary for muscle functions. The consequence of age related chronic cellular energy loss include: Arthritis, Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetes, Dementia, Auto-immune Disorders including Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME).
All of these conditions are the direct result of not making enough cellular energy to keep cells (and thus organs) functioning efficiently, leading to cellular entropy (disorder within the cell).
There is a therapy available, which has recently been introduced to New Zealand, called APS Therapy that has been clinically proven to ramp up energy production by increasing ATP by up to 500%. The therapy which was awarded the gold medal at the prestigious International Invention Show (Medical Category) in Geneva, Switzerland has a restorative effect on the cells and excellent results for these disorders have been clinically researched and published.
While the aging process cannot be reversed completely, medical science is revealing ways in which the quality of life can definitely be improved.
