Standing Ovations … Disabled Kids … Changing Lives
StarJam offers young people with disabilities opportunities to build confidence and character through performance. The organisation has enjoyed phenomenal success in its formative years building an impressive collection of celebrity endorsements both here and overseas and a vast network of corporate support.
Currently the programme encompasses 11 workshops a week in Auckland and one in Whangarei covering dance, song, percussion and guitar.
StarJam kids gain confidence, empowerment, new friends, new hope and new purpose which quickly spills over into every aspect of their lives, the lives of their families and friends and the community at large.
StarJam is 100% funded by grants and donations receiving no money from the government and more than 70% of our incomings go directly to support our programmes.
In mid-2010 StarJam is coming to Hamilton and in 2011 we hope to spread the jam in Wellington and Christchurch.
"I've learned a lot of life lessons from StarJam. Just because you have a disability doesn't mean you can't get on and be like everyone else … StarJam is a life-changing experience." Anthony Jellyman - Jammer aged 15 yrs.
