Have Your Say About Parkinson's

New Zealanders throughout the country are invited to have their say about the support, education and services provided for people with Parkinson’s, their families and friends.

National not for profit Parkinson’s New Zealand will hold five regional workshops in August to call for thoughts and ideas to ensure the current and future needs of people living with Parkinsonism conditions are met.

Parkinson’s New Zealand offers support, education, resources and services nationwide with 20 divisions and a National Office in Wellington.  The Society celebrated its 25 anniversary in 2008.

More than 10,000 people in New Zealand live with a Parkinsonism condition. Parkinson’s is a slowly progressive condition that occurs when insufficient quantities of the chemical dopamine are produced by the brain. The main symptoms that occur include a tremor, stiffness and rigidity and slowness of movement.

Next month’s regional public workshops will give all New Zealanders the opportunity to have their say about what services and support are needed for people with Parkinson’s, their families and friends.

Input from the workshops and a survey will inform the future and current direction of Parkinson’s New Zealand and the work it does.

We need your input! Why not bring a friend along!

The details of each of the workshops follow. For more information, please contact Parkinson’s New Zealand on 0800 473 4636 or see our website - www.parkinsons.org.nz.
