I recently was fortunate to be invited to visit the RNZFB National Guide Dog Centre located at 30 McVilly Road, Manurewa. It was wonderful to see how the dedicated staff and volunteers help to make such a difference in the lives of visually impaired people. We were also delighted to meet 2 litters of 6 week old pups and watch video of another litter born the night before - aahhh!
Tours of the Centre are available and several GrownUps from the South and Eastern Auckland group are keen to go.
If anyone else is interested, please let me know preferred dates and times and I will organise a tour. Further info below.
We welcome both international and local visitors to the only guide dog training centre in New Zealand. We show a video, answer questions and invite you to meet and pat some of our training dogs, and view the young puppies. The souvenir shop will also be open.
Tour times: Monday to Friday between 11.00am and 2.00pm, by appointment.
Duration: approx.1 hour.
Fee: none, but we are grateful for donations.
