Do you find yourself mystified, perplexed, baffled and generally bemused by the ‘wonders of technology?’
Carol from 1st Chance Computing has a solution for you. Since 2002 Carol has been delivering computer sales, service, support, advice as well as in-home and office based training opportunities to not-for-profit groups and the general public.
Recommendations: “I telephoned Carol who has supported me from day one in obtaining my computer and sorting out all my ‘little problems’”. D Hamilton. “I would like to thank Carol for the great service she has given me. When I didn’t understand what was happening she would come round and fix the problem and explain what to do next time it happened”. T Anderson. “My personal profile is that I am a 69 year old woman. The training that I receive is based solely on my choice of training e.g. emailing family, learning about photos, browsing the internet for recipes and any general troubleshooting. I have a family of 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. My computer and the ongoing support have enhanced our family relationships hugely”. C Anderson.
The advent of computer technology in the home has offered us a communication tool that both excites and frustrates us. At times it seems that you need to be an expert and other times it seems so simple. The following quote from the Charity Focus website, sums up the philosophy of 1st Chance Computing; “In the spirit of tech sherpas, lend what might seem like a basic skill to you, to someone for whom it would be significant help”.
Master your basics and you too will become a tech sherpa, even for your children and grandchildren!
Carol is now based in Christchurch and is continuing to support the communities of Otaki/Horowhenua with the help of volunteers, 6 weekly personal visits and a free phone call facility.
