Flying is something I love
Floating high over clouds up above
Soon Janda will do it
I know he won't rue it
Sailing on wings like a dove.

Well all forms of travel are neat
New places, new faces to meet.
But the take-off and landing
In planes, is outstanding
A thrill with which naught can compete.

And you cannot compare with the plane
For the distance of travel you gain
Even far, far away
Hardly more than a day
But what I enjoy most, is the train.

It's a year since I traveled by train
And I'd love to go that way again
But now how I miss
The smokey smell bliss
Of the steam trains I rode 'cross the plain.confused

Oh Yes, Kuranui, I dream
Of the rhythmical puff, and the steam
The coal dust in hair
That smell in the air
And to do it again is my scheme.

For I have a tremendous desire
To take the renewed Kingston Flyer
But it's so much to pay
Çoz it's so far away
Just to get there the cost would be dire.

Have some friends who've just been on the Flyer
They said that the prices are dire
For a 15 mile ride
Through scenery wide
Their finances went down to the wire.

Poor souls, they're just on a pension
Each pay brings relief from the tension
But they're glad that they went
Tho' they count every cent
An adventure that they can now mention.

Now I'm back here in Aotearoa
In the Land of the Kiwi and Moa
It's so nice to be home
No more will I roam
In the garden I'll need a leaf blower!!

It's cold in the mornings, I know
But up here we've not yet had snow
It's a bright sunny day
On the last day of May
Maybe June will come in with a blow!

Hey janda, it's great that you're back
I guess you've had time to unpack
You'll need a good rest
Back in your own nest
The cold you'll just have to hack!!

Welcome home Janda from U.K.
It's time now to work, not to play
You had a nice roam
But now that you're home
I hope that your day's not too gray.
