We have done 11 housesits throughout NZ over the past 4 years. Have had no real dramas just a couple of them were a little grumpy when they returned but we just put that down to jetlag on one ocassion and just the strange nature of the woman on the other. With most we have become friends and want us back for repeat sits if we are available. We do not charge but do not expect to pay for any household expenses as it is a lot cheaper to have a housesitter than have to board their pets out. Mostly we have been in lovely homes with a lot of these being on lifestyle blocks which leads to an idyllic stay of up to 6 weeks so far. We use housecarers.com and for a small annual fee they email any NZ housesits as they come up. Most of our sits from now on will just be repeat requests. Just remember you do have an obligation to give their beloved pets the best of care as well as maintaining the property to at least the owners expectations Get references from each sit you do these are a big help when applying for later sits.
