Just wondering how many people turned up for this movie night, considering it's such a new site, and short notice?

I think this thread is going to get too long to be used as an events calendar tracking events. Maybe we need to have a think of what is a good way to do this.
Anyway I had emailed in regards to the show at Waiatarua "Steel Magnolias" running from 16-26 May. Tickets $20/$15 concession. Group booking rates are available but I'll need to ring them to find out the details if there is interest.

Hi Ozgal222,
I am currently away from Auckland until the 15th May. I am lucky enough to have the use of a computer, but I'm unable to use the mailing list for 'GrownUps Activity Group' as it requires my Outlook program. I do however, have the organising members' email addresses, and the GAG mailing list members information on file and I can receive or send email via Xtra's Yahoo Mail website.
I have your email address and I'll send you the people to contact with your Waiatarua "Steel Magnolias" research and you can choose a date with the co-op members. My personal vote is any of those but best dates... May 23rd - 26th, because of the other event planned for the 20th!" I'm a starter.
The system we have in place at present is as follows:
1. Events are posted on the discussion thread once finalised. This gives everyone plenty of time (usually) to decide, plan and save in order to attend. With every event posted, there will be an option of becoming a group member... by joining our mailing list, which gives members a voice when we're in the planning stages. This way, we get a core of definite attendees and possible attendees.
2. Events are decided upon by the 'GrownUps Activity Group' organisers. 'Anyone can become an organiser by becoming a group member, becoming actively involved in decision making, researching venues they suggest, attending some events and being generally pleasant and helpful. It's a co-op.
When we have a few definite attendees and a time and date is decided upon within the group's organisers, the event is finalised and details are posted to this 'GrownUp Activity Group' discussion thread.
Events are also sent via the mailing list once finalised and a reminder a week or so before, depending on the event. A reminder will also be posted on this discussion thread. If new people are interested at this point, they need to make a note of the event details and join the member's mailing list if they'd like to.
3. Anyone interested in attending an event that is at a member's home, must join the mailing list to receive the host's email address, phone number and address. They should also contact the host to accept the invitation.

Grownups Activity Group or GAG for short is the new group for men and women over 50. GAG was formed today at a meetup of GrownUps members wanting an active group for the whole of Auckland.
Although the group is based on the Western side of Auckland City, some excursions will be in the greater Auckland area.
Events will be scheduled and posted under the 'Friends' topic, in the 'GrownUps Activity Group' discussion thread as they are created, and as they approach, but because, as you know, older posts can become buried as new posts are placed, we would prefer to have you on my friends list, where we can exchange information safely.
We certainly weren't short of ideas and a wish list was easily created, but we want to hear from you too. What's happening in your area that we need to know about? Are there any 'Secret Gardens' or special places you've discovered that we should explore? Anywhere you'd love to go, anything you'd like to do?
Preferred time for activities is Sunday afternoons, although some Saturday/weekday events will be scheduled.
Movies will be scheduled for 'Cheap as Tuesdays' evenings. Approximate meet time: 8.00pm (depends on movie start time). Other days and times may be added later.
Preferred activities: Movies, walking, culture
Preferred price: Under $20 per activity.
Free is better.
Car sharing and pickups are possible in some circumstances.
