I would like to join a Book Club in Hamilton, went to one but was too high brow for me, I like writers such as Catherine Alliott, Tana French, Kate Atkinson, Susan Hill, Joanna Trollope, Alan Bennett - middle of the road you might say, with a touch of humour. Just enjoyed reading The Help, but haven't seen the film.

I can't help you with a Book Club in Hamilton, but I do belong to one in Gisborne and luckily, we have a different subject for each month, e.g. travel, romance. I have a copy of "The Help" and enjoyed it very much and I thought it was better than the film. Anyway, good luck in finding a Book Club.

This is an old thread but someone might just want to reactivate it.....I've put posts on G/Ups before about starting a book club here in Hamilton, with only about 10-12 people, along the lines of each person reading whatever they like and just giving a short precis of their book each month, enjoy a cuppa and a chat. I don't particularly like the idea of theme each month as I like to read whatever takes my fancy, but anyway its all a moot point if no-one sees this thread again, so here's hoping. I've been googling book clubs in Hamilton and just came across this thread! I'd be keen to join as well, if there's one going??

Hey, thought I had subscribed to this thread so that I would know when someone posted but appears I didn't. I'm very keen to get one going so hopefully we can get a couple more but in the meantime could the Hamilton people meet up for coffee and have a chat about it.
And yes Manurere, I don't see why we couldn't have one on-line as well. I will start it right now and tell you what I'm reading...see below
