Hi Mona,
Here is what it says about the clipboard in Help & Support.

>>>Clipboard

A temporary storage area used by Windows. Information (such as text, files, graphics, sound, or video) can be copied to the Clipboard from one program or location and pasted elsewhere. The Clipboard can only hold one piece of information at a time. Whenever something is copied to the Clipboard, it replaces whatever was there before. <<<

So, when you tried to copy or cut the password, it didn't copy or cut anything. Got me stumped, unless the copy or cut option was greyed out when you went to do it. Did you highlight it properly?

It should work if you are doing it right. Is there anyone at all can help you? Some kid next door perhaps?

As for the Screen not right, Have you somehow changed your screen resolution? If your Maximise button is away off to the right somewhere, how are you closing the window?

Thank you for your generous offer.I fixed the screen resolution,by shutting the computer off, and re-starting.As far as the other problem.I do have a very Whizz Kid. He is my son.Often very busy, mending comuters etc.I'll ask Chris to come in and show mw again. He's very patient that way, knowing full well I don't retain info so well these days.I write it all down. Can you tell me why my computer chimes regularly? I changed the sound yesterday to the chime. It's going quite a lot this morning. Is it warning me of impending gloom? Thanks Cookybaby.

I see that you have changed your name.
Sounds like you set your chime to notify you when you do something on the computer. There are dozens of sounds that you can set a sound up for and if you go look in Control Panel> Sound, and open it check to see what you have set the sound to do.

Glad your son will be able to help you.

Thanks Cookybaby.I didn't like my alias.Gerald is my name, and I don't mind using it.I think I might change the chime. Go back to the classical music. There is so much I don't know. But perhaps that's just as well.Computers don't appear to enjoy deep meddling.lolrazz
Note - Chris showed me how to send stuff to clipboard(27th) that is why I have a heap of articles on this site.Cookybaby thank you again.

Help! Cookybaby Problem. I have written a story.Somehow unbeknown to me there are horizontal lines through one or two pages. How do I remove the lines, and how can I connect the story so it becomes one? I have also written some memoirs down for my wife, each day adding more writing. Now I discover the writing is on seperate files. I cant find out how to join them together? My son did tell this laptop is an old'un. But it works.
Sorry to be a nuisancemrgreenmrgreenmrgreencrycry

Hi Gerald 006,
Firstly, Not quite sure what you mean by horizontal lines though pages? Do you mean that some of the text has lines through it? What word processing program are you using to write things in? I need to know this, and if you can be as specific as possible. EG: If it is MS Word, what version is it? Or is it just Wordpad, which comes with all Windows Operation systems?

Next thing is saving things in a diary like format. Like writing some text and then adding to it from day to day. You need to save it ALL in the same document, and then it won't all be in different files. Maybe your son can help you do this.

Just a thought, if you live in an area where there is a SeniorNet group, You might be able to get someone to come to you and show you some things, if you didn't want to bother your son.

Cheers CB

Hi Cookybaby for your good advice.I 've taken on board your comments. I'lljust amble along and work it out.Question- I notice twodegrees advertising reasonable pre-paid for mobile phones and Broadband.Certainly more reasonable than I have now. What phone (mobile) should I get? Any thoughts please?I won't make many calls, but the broadband deal for 3gigs looks ok I pay close to $60 a month for phone and dial-up, and the computer is oh so slow.Any thoughts greatly appreciated

gerald006,
You can buy any mobile phone you like and then just get a sim card from 2degrees to put in it. The mobile broadband that you want to use on it, you pay extra for. These are called Mobile Broadband Plans (like the 3 gigs you mentioned) and are more likely to be used on Smartphones so you can go on the internet.
I am with Vodafone for my smartphone and only have 50MBs for $6 per month. I would like a lot more but can't afford it at the moment.

2degrees is not an Internet provider, so you can't get a PC connection through them.
If you want a broadband connection for your PC you will need to get it through either your current ISP or change to an ISP that offers a good deal on what you want.
At the moment Slingshot have a good deal with any broadband connection for half price for six months.

Hope this clarifies it a bit more for you.

Cheers CB biggrin
