OKK,We sympathise as we have been subjected in Christchurch to John Keys travelling roadshow since September last year poncing in hard hats and orange vests with media entourages It is now November and there are people out in the East of Christchurch still suffering portaloos, red, yellow green and blue stickerings. There is great stress and uncertainty out there
How John Key can show his face on the Coast given his Hollow weasel words were to bring your Pike River Men home no matter what it takes is beyond the pall.Best wishes.

To be fair the families don't want any of them there but the church apparantly has to have John there so they have invited Phil and Russell to remain as neutral as possible.
None of them will be allowed to speak other than the prime minister reading a lesson as part of the service. Apparently it is protocol that the prime minister of the day should perform that task.

I agree with you OKK and if JK is to speak than the Leader of the Opposition should also, not because he is Labour but because it is protocol as the leader of "Her Majesties Loyal Opposition".

OKK, I would want as a father or mother or relative there at the first anniversary to not have this turned into THE JOHN KEY TRAVELLING ROADSHOW.He has failed to bring the men home and West Coasters should not be pawns in any political game let alone an election in 9 days.I lost my only son and speak from experience. No politicians

Seeing as the whole bloody thing has happened because stupid bloody politicians stuffed up the laws and reduced to a totally useless numer of inspecters then no bloody politician should even be allowed on the Coast at all and if they do go there they shouldn't be allowed to leave alive.

Or on the other side of the coin JK will need to tread "Very" carefully as tempers are very short on the coast at present with the latest revelations and what he wants to be a "Photo Opportunity" could easily reverse into an embarrassing protest! And that is something he won't want at present!!

Interesting idea OJ...do you suppose we could somehow get ALL politicians to the coast??!

Good point Bryan - I think its even possible that just his presence there will upset & annoy some of those who have suffered through the Pike river mine disaster.
At the very least he needs to honour his promise to do all he can to bring the miners bodies out.

More damning evidence today of the workings of This National Governments shocking goings on within the Dept of Labour.Kate Wilkinson Minister should be held to account and be sacked.
BD, Anything this PM says should be taken with a grain of salt. He has demeaned the office of PM.

Hey Old Kiwi Kid, when is the Coast going to declair their independence.
You have the food, you have the energy, wood, hydro and coal.
Blow up the tunnel and the passes and you are home and hosed.

I find it ironic that the Labour Dept is going to prosecute Pike River for safety breaches when they themselves cut their Mine Inspectors and their resources back to almost nothing!

Passing the buck is the NZ way, Bryan. Mr. Nobody is alive and well. The Aussie has become the fall guy.

The latest obscenity is the Memorial service on Saturday is being attended by Key, Goff and several other politcians and it is fast looking like it is going to descend into a political brawl. Their attendance has part of their election train through the Coast. Shame on the lot of them.
