It was so sad to see Homebush on the news, such a lovely old building - oops here's another one - Dr L has been asked to talk on radio with Mike Yardley tomorrow around 8ish on the Heritage buildings that have been damaged. It would help if he knew which ones have been.

Well I am thinking of you all at this time, and nice to come home from the funeral today to messages from Dr. Livingstone and Flash Gordon to hear some of you are ok. My thoughts are with you all at this time, and to think we were going to be there in Christchurch this weekend. Weren't to know this was going to happen.
At least there are no lives lost here so we have lots to be thankful for.
Take care of each other and your neighbours.

My best wishes to all GUP friends in the South, it is heartening to note you have not lost your sense of humour. Stay safe and look after each other

I heard the earth moved for me too and I slept right through it.
But my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I have a niece living over near the tunnel and she decided to get out of bed when the telly fell off the wall and her neighbours chimney came through the roof. She also lives near a tidal creek that is now dry when it's never been even at low tide. So the earth has probably risen somewhat. She reckons it's good because she's now that bit closer to heaven.

Some of you may be wondering why it took so long on the plane to fly from Wellington to Christchurch. Almost two and a half hours.
You can now click on Articals and read the story. DELAYED

Desi & I had coffee this morning with Lynda at THE ELMS HOTEL on our way back home after I did an interview with PRIME TV at The Art Gallery at 11am and an earlier interview with Mike Yardley on Nationwide News talk ZB at 8am. They each wanted a HERITAGE Perspective piece from me in my expertise with HERITAGE BUILDINGS and WALKS. etc.how I felt at the loss of so many of our buildings and churches. It is distressing to see the damage at places like The Normal School, Oxford Tce Baptist Church,The Iconic Spanish Mission Style ornate facade of Repertory Theatre which has gone or whole blocks of shops ripped open at suburban corners . Also damage at The Arts Centre, Weston House on Park Tce and Christs College,Liquification of several streets still a problem in Richmond. We told Lynda we would be back at THE ELMS Tomorrow morning at 1030am with our stories. We continue to get aftershocks. A BIGGEE a few minutes ago.!!.DrL.& Desi.
