Hubby & me have been offered an all expenses paid trip on the Ghan starting on the 2nd June. I have read about the amount of cabin luggage allowed but don't know if that means per person or not. We are going Gold Service & wondered if there are any Grownups who have made this journey... what sort of bag is best to take... & if only ONE bag allowed, what did you pack that kept you in fresh clothes for the 5 days for the 2 of you, let alone shoes etc?

We used the train a couple of weeks ago, breaking the journey at the Alice for side trips to Ayers Rock, the Olgas and Kings Canyon. Loved it!
We each checked in our main bags - 20 kgs per person - and took overnight things, with camera, ipod, etc on board. No obvious restriction and there is room to store bags in the cabin above the toilet block or squash them under a bed. Made a difference stopping-off but I don't think staying on for two successive nights would be a problem.
I appreciate you have already made the trip but this might help others.
