Hi everyone.

I am 58 and have a National Diploma in IT. I only done it because people said I was too old. It took me 4 years.

Anyway, I am willing to offer technical support if I can to problems you might have. If I cannot solve it for you, I will point you in the right direction.

I will be checking this Forum every night to see if there is anything required. If there are a lot of request, it might take me a little while to reply to all, so please be patient with me.

Thanks Bilbo

Good on you for getting your diploma in IT. Thanks for the offer of technical support and I'll certainly post a request if necessary. Good luck

Hi coliflower

Thanks for your reply and question.

When you bought the Fax machine, you should have been supplied with the manufacturer's CD with the drivers for it.

There is two options open to you.

1. You can go to the manufacturer's web site (if they have one) and see if they have the necessary drivers for XP Home to download.

2. You can try a search on the net with the name of the machine and try and find a driver that way.

An example would be Driver.

Another option that requires you to register free is to visit a web site called DriverGuide.com.

Hope I have been of some help. Let me know how you get on.

Hi pearl

Glad to here you are 'getting up with the times', although there is nothing wrong with Windows 98 if it is the Special Edition.

Let me know what you upgrade to and if you need any help.

Hi again Bilbo. Do you have any knowledge of Cashbook Complete, a simple accounting system? I use at home for our business and it is also used where I have just started a new job. I am unable to open the work programme of Cashbook Complete. We have tried uninstalling it and can't even do that. We have run system restore back to when the programme last worked ok - to no avail. I just wondered if you would know why a programme wouldn't open for some reason.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Bilbo,
My neighbour gave me his scanner with disk etc. but cannot get it onto my XP. The scanner is for Window 98. He said something about the modem need upgrading, but I thoughed XP is better then 98? is that right and is it better to get a scanner the same as XP. Magnolia.

Hi rosie

Thanks for your query. I am afraid that I have had no experience with Cashbook Complete, but I will see what I can find out from a couple of people I know and get back to you.

Hi magnolia

Yes XP is far superior to 98 and you will find that the CD that came with the scanner does not run have the drivers for XP.

You need to start a search on the Internet to locate a driver that will run your scanner on XP.

Insert the name of the scanner, e.g. Acer drivers for XP in the search box and get the required drivers for it that way.
