Everybody should try to have grandparents,(according to this class of 8 year olds,) especially if you dont have television.
Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of there own, they like other peoples.
When they take us for walks they slow down past pretty leaves and caterpillars.
They dont say hurry up,
Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie up our shoes.
A grandfather is a man grandmother.

Hi there...my husband and i r parents to our grandchidren 5yrs and 20mths due to mitigating circumstances regarding their father (our son) and our daughter inlaw. We also have 'whangai' daughters adopted, 11yrs going on 21) and 13, who at most times act like a 5yr old. Both the latter have come from a violent environment much like our grandson. The older children have been in our car since they were 18mths and 8hrs old......their family structure is so very sad that i cannot even begin to tell the older children why their dad is not on their birth certificate......let alone who their 'dads' are.... so hang in there 'grandparents' because we r all doing a great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jean53biggrin

Our best time with our grandchildren were when the elder ones (Now 22 down to 18 yrs) lived nearby. We showed them where the carrots grew in the ground and went for a 'bushwalk' around the fruit trees. Boohoo no more nearby. cry

It is very sad that some Children in the very near future will be without young Grandparents as their Parents are so intent on the big O.E and making money that they are not starting a family till they are nearing fortyish . Our two are 11 and 8 and we are 73 and 75 so we will be lucky to see them get into their twenties so we have to enjoy them when we can. We are very lucky that they are only five minutes away and we see them at least four or five times a week and are able to go to School assemblies etc to watch their progress. It is a full life but fun.
