Well! After reading all the above, I am convinced the PLACEBO effect is well and truly entrenched in the human physce. If you gain some relief due to magnetic underlay or any Magnetic therapy go for it. What I do not like is some of the outragous claims made by the people who sell this SNAKE OIL. Cynical I may be as I grow older the only thought I have at the moment is " KEEP NEW ZEALAND GREEN" tell e'm nothin.

Excellent beachbelle...good to hear of your improvement. As you say you don't know for sure but who cares when there is improvement to enjoy...You wouldn't dare try changing anything as you could go backwards...
Thanks nandi for that info'.

I bought a magnetic blanket a few years ago, as it was a cheaper type it was covered in satin and oh boy if it or I stayed on the bed all night it was a bonus. I don't think it did any good anyway. To cover any aches I walk a lot as well as garden but pace myself. Hard to make new friends as one gets older though, I would rather have a few more of them than a magnetic blanket. ;-|

Yep, i got sucked in and tried one a couple of years ago for my aching joints... NOTHING! I did get the refund! I must say that now if I wake up with aches and pains in the night i pop my electric blanket on low and it does the trick.
Cameo, sometimes you'll try anything, even if you are really sceptical (I am generally AND a nurse by prefession so should have more sense!!).

hi Arby..join the nurse club..quite a few ex nurses on site, mostly with inner clock problems..lol.. your experience shows that is the dryness and warmth that works, not necessarily the magnets!..if that is reality then there is a lot of ripping off by companies. Lovely photo of you..

There are others from Napier on here. i used to go there every year as a child. to one of the original houses in Owen street before the earthquake.

The information I have read on these magnetic blankets/underlays is they have never passed an independent test, that is when the user has no idea if he has the real deal or not. I looked into these things when diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the hip. When you think about it the earth is a giant magnet and we all sleep on that.
I found the things that helped are a car with higher seats, same indoors no low seats. Most of all glucosamine, I started with 1500mg per day, now take 1000 per day. I no longer lay awake in pain.

Might as well add my little bit as think I may have started this topic yonks ago, well folks I wouldn't be without my bio-mag blanket, it put me back on my feet and if I am away I really struggle, dont care if its all in the mind, ex nurse too so should know better; about the only thing it hasnt done is help me kick the filthy smoking habit, have graduated to rollies which are cheaper and better for you!!!!!!!!!!! I really am in awe of all the clever people on this site, good luck and good health to you all

I think if u believe something will work, it does!Simple as that! Not a bad thing at all by any means, but none the less, mind over matter is a powerful tool in itself! I do find a copper bracelet helps Arthritis and if that is mind over matter....I don`t care! It works!! A sheepskin underlay helps the other aches and pains I get from working too hard, and I swear by my vibrating back massager!!Absolutely brilliant, and can put me to sleep with the relief I get after over doing things and the ensuing aches and pains! Panadol never fails either! ha ha As for brain cells.........what are they? smile

good for you both BB and eye.
I believe they are having a physical effect on you both, not a mental one....

Here's a new treatment you arthritis sufferers might like to trial:

I'll take my medicine without the raisins, thanks.
