This is for Joybel as I can't find the thread in which she launched a scathing attack on Dr. Livingstone. I suppose Lindelew and I are included as we are fellow conspiritors! The idea was born when Lindelew and I met up with some of the Christchuch group when we were in Hanmer Springs.
Dr L sounded us out on the idea when we arrived home and we are with him 100 per cent. There has been much lively discussion on the Newmarketeers thread and everyone thinks it is a great fun thing to do. I thought the idea of Grown Ups was to meet new people and make new friends. This is all that is happening! If people want to take a negative attitude, that is alright by us!
I just wanted you to know that no-one's anonimity is being encroached upon! If people don't wish to know - that's their priviledge.

I have just spent a half hour writing a reply to ocfreckle. I submitted it but then got a message that the webpage had closed and it has disappeared. Now I will have to gather up my wits and start again.
My post was sent to Admin.and as DR.L. has a penchant for referendums I thought it might be a good idea. Don't be silly Joybell, Dr. L. is a saint in Admins. eyes and can do no wrong. I never was much good with saints, so that makes me a sinner.
The facts are that these so called friendly meetings will not come cheap and could be unaffordable to a number of members. I have always enjoyed the frendly get togethers we once had with visitors who came and stayed in members homes, but they faded away once the good DR. L. decided to take over. He loves publicity, but that is not a crime, rather a need to be noticed. So, go for it, ockfreckle and good luck .

Joybel, you are so right, once we were infiltrated by the Dr.L. life went down hill at a great rate of knots.
What annoys me is that he does not have the gumption to ever mention that he meet Desi at Cherryatrics.
Then it was all his walking groups, and how he planned to get us all into them. Just go back in this thread and read for yourself what transpired.
What was a nice friendly coffee group became a forum for Dr.L. Manipulation is what is shows.
Cherryatrics still meet every Wednesday and we still have laughs and enjoy each others company with out the added stress of having to travel all over Canterbury to do it. Yes, we do have new members, so we are not defunct but are still growing. We have a really open membership, no Boss or Co-ordinator or what ever else you might like to call a person who likes to organise everyone else.
Long may that continue.

Joybel and Classy C, we here in the Waikato meet once a month for lunch and one of us usually offers to organise where we go. We made it for the last Saturday of each month, so that those who work can also join us. Mid week does not suit those who work, but again, some of us do meet in a cafe on a Wed for a small lunch. This also works well for those who would like to do it.
I personally cant always make the luncheons due to other commitments etc or for personalle reasons.
I wish both your Christchurch Cherratrics and the Canterbury Grownups all the very best in what ever you all do. We are all friends here.

Sorry , Classy, but I am not recovering as fast as I would like. No energy or enough breath to go very far. Went back to bed for the afternoon. Food is of little interest.

Hi Joybel, we are the same here, second visit to the Doctor and now a different lot of medication. As for food, yuk, feel like something nice then can't be bothered eating it.
They have given me a different inhaler to help breath, Doctor said this flu has been a real stinker and people who usually have no problem breathing are now struggling.
I thought of you as I went around Shirley way today - every road seemed to be dug up and I had to keep doing different ways all the time. I finally made it home and thought to hell with that side of town.
Keep warm and if you need anything private message me and I will see if I can help.

Thank for your kind words, Lizzy. It is a while since i was at one of Hamiltons friendly get togethers. You take care as with the flu you mainly fend for yourself. I t is a nasty piece of a virus.

Joybell, thanks for your message here. I don't get the "flu". I am very fortunate, that i don't allow myself to get it. Some kind person here in the chat room put me onto Cod liver Oil tablets, just one a day, and they work. I also get the flu injection free because i am an asthmatic. I do sometimes get Broncitis on the odd accasion, but not the flu. I do know there is a nasty one going around at present.
I did have bit of a cold not to long ago, but got on top of that before i got to bad. Amazing how some people can get a cold and say they have the flu, NOT THIS ONE. LOL.
Take care Joybell and look after yourself.
Lizzey.

Hello everyone. We are now back in Timaru, after our trip to the far south, we won't make next Wednesday coffee morning but will be there the week after.
I hope that you are soon recovered from your flu bugs. It seems to be affecting people right down the island.
Look after yourselves.

I had a shock to read of floosies health problem. I am so sorry that this has come about, floosie. I wish you all the best and a positive return to good health in the near future. I am sure all the Cheeryatrics join with me in saying "Get well soon" If I can help in any way don't hesitate to ask. Love and hugs. Joy
