Mmmmmm.......i also have this problem and was also told it wasn't life threatening....dr gave me an ECG to be sure and said my heart was actually ticking along very nicely apart from the extra heart beat. Drives me mad at times...although has been a little quieter lately and can't really say why.

I have found with any annoying chest problems and over beating heart,is to keep the stomach as empty as possible.[bowels working daily]The pressure around the top area will be released, and all top organs have more room for movement.I also remember my DRs telling me that during my Pregnancies. That was moooons ago.

Apparently a lack of pottasium can cause problems such as Atrial Fibrillation and irregular heartbeat. I started a thread last month as I had recently been diagnosed with multi focal tachycardia. If I check my pulse when its happening I can actually feel the irregularity. Sometimes it is like palpitations, some times it feels like a wet fish flopping around in the chest area (thats the nearest explanation - and dont ask how I would know what that feels like - the imagination is a great thing). Anyway, maybe get your pottasium level checked.

hi Mayfa..and all others with this problem...and those with palpitations as well..try this next time..COUGH HARD..I saw this on tele ages ago and have tried it many times myself, as would you know it, after reading or hearing of others with certain symptoms I many times experience them myself....OR maybe I didn't notice certain symptoms until i saw something about it !!
You also use the coughing for people you think are having a bit of a heart attack, esp' if it is due to a clot. The clot will be forced to move when you cough hard.
Won't always work for everyone of course.

Hi Mafya, I'm so glad you can relate to the feelings of "popping". When I went to my dr she suggested the Holter Monitor. However I had to wait 5mths to get to the hospital to have it fitted. By the time I got there things had settled down, itn't it always the way, but today its jumping all over the place. I just keep busy and try to ignore it. You wear the monitor for 24hrs and have to write up a diary. So when you get a little feeling or episode you press the little button on the machine to mark the spot. Then write all your feelings, pains etc in the diary with the time. Its been a week and am still awaiting the results. Will let you know. Its nice to know you aren't the only one eh! I didn't have any trouble sleeping with it as not a toss and turner at nite. Its about the size of a walkman on a belt around your waist. When I went out walking with it to work my heart up so they could see if when under pressure it was affecting the heart. A good test if you can get out walking. Good luck
