I often enter comps but I am wary of whom I give my details to. Have you noticed that to enter a comp with Coast you have to accept the terms and conditions before you know what they are? That sort of thing puts me off. What do you think?

Ok Mona, so they didn't say your details might be used for any research or stuff like that. I might have a go then. Thanks.

I'm always wary of entering details online.

I don't have a problem if I'm buying something from a reputable company or the competition is done through a reputable organisation though.

I never give personal details out though, and never maiden names, birthdays or passwords.

Have you noticed how, even when you go into a shop like, say, Harvey Norman, they ask you for your phone number or address if you make a purchase?

I questioned this practice once. The shop assistant said it was to complete their database. It turns out they use it to send you advertising details out and in some instance they can sell their database to other organisations who'll bombard you with rubbish.

I said I didn't want to be on their database and as I was paying cash it was none of their business what my phone number and address details were.

I read an article recently where, if you click on some of those pop up adds that spring across your screen (even if it is to click it off) your computer's ID may be collected and you may start receiving spam. sad

85% of the emails sent out now is from spammers. I think that's shocking. I can't believe that there is no control over who bombards your computer.
