Since the art site was bombed last Feb I've only done 15 new ones Lady P. I'll fish one out sometime soon and show it here since you ask, and thanks for the interest.
It's funny but many think there is nothing to digital art. they seem to think it does it all by itself. biggrin There are trick brushes that do things for you, like trees etc, if you want to do that, but I prefer not to. Besides I'm not into doing scenes really, just faces and little stories to go with them, narrative art. They're all here if you want to see... copy and paste as a clump, don't try to join it all up... but I don't expect anyone to feel obliged to look and read. biggrin

Hi Gisbo! I've been very busy and haven't done as much art as I used to, but every now and then something sweeps over me and i just have to do another. lovely to hear from you. Robyn biggrin

Why thank you lady P! I'm very glad you enjoyed your "trip". You must have a bit of time on your hands at the moment then...

When I think about all the responses to my older art, the ones that went out with the bomb, it feels sad that has all gone as we had a great time talking back and forth about each narrative. I had over 220 threads there. I managed to retrieve a fair few of the threads in the archives while they were still in google search. (I didn't lose the art of course as I had my copies).

Never mind, These things happen. Can't change it.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look and read. Rob biggrin

Time? lollollol I spend most evenings on the computer but the rest of my days are very full.
Computer art is as complex as any other art form. Only those that have no idea of what's involved would think it was an easy medium.

I was trying to teach a friend how to paint raindrops today......... to me it was such an easy thing but after 20 practice drops, she still hasn't got it! I must be a very poor teacher crycrycry It's the shadows that have her stumped. I've told her to go put an egg under a lamp and look at it closely.....see where the light comes from and where the shadow falls.

lol, I thought you might react to that. I know you are a very busy lady so thanks for making the time is a better way to put it.

I understand your frustrations with teaching what you already know and are familiar with. I am one of the "unteachables" too as I don't follow direction very well and never have. When I was told things I didn't know what they were talking about. I have to puizzle things out for myself, do it the hard way. There are many like me out there I'm afraid.

So, my point in all that is to reassure you that it is not your fault, you are not a bad teacher because someone fails to understand. There are bad teachers out there, I realise that too, but not everyone can accomplish everything i feel.

So take heart! biggrin

Hi LadyP - long time no hear from! I trust you have been keeping well and enjoying life?
Beautiful sunflower that you've done there - the warm background gives the sense of a hot summers day, I can almost hear the cicadas!
Water colour on canvas? I bought a Renoir Watercolour Stretched canvas from Spotlight recently, but I've been reluctant to try it (for fear of ruining it) as I'm so used to working on paper. Tell me, how do you find working in watercolour on the canvas surface?
Lovely to see this thread alive again.
Kindest Regards,
Doug.

Hello Doug biggrin
I'm keeping very well now after a bout of pneumonia!
There is a product on the market that allows you to put a coating over just about any medium and it becomes a watercolour surface. It's made by Schminke.
But what I did here was wet the paper, then put it over a shop bought canvas. It dries as tight as a drum and is great to paint on. I seal it and then varnish so it's ready to hang and no framing required smile

Pneumonia is pretty bad - congratulations on beating that. I'm fighting a lung infection myself (pseudomonas) and I'm tired of being on anti-biotics but have 6 more weeks to go.
That Schminke product sounds good - must look it up. And your technique with paper over canvas is interesting - do you stick it down with gummed paper strip or anything?
Have you ever tried Renoir Watercolour Canvasses?
You still doing the zoo thing? How was sailing over the, shall we call it a 'summer'?

1. Schminke products are the best!
2. I staple the wet paper over the canvas so it just looks like a canvas smile
3. No I have never tried the Renoir ( love that man!) Watercolour canvases but I shall certainly give it a go.
4. Just celebrated 10 years at the Zoo and I plan on continuing as long as I am able smile I'm also going to bird rescue at Whitford. We now have a one-legged duck, another egg layer and a baby mynah bird. Himself said NO MORE! Yeah right!! lollollol
5. Summer was late but we have had some wonderful trips on LadyP. She now has an electric fridge/freezer that is so much easier to get into. We heard kiwi call on Ponui Island 2 weeks ago!
5. 2nd frost in a row today......in May that is unheard of! Might get snow in the winter perhaps?rolleyeseekeek

Man alive is that why it's so cold all of a sudden! 2 days ago it seemed like summer still.

Hi lady P. So glad you beat the Pneumonia. Keep well now won't you.
You lead such an interesting life amongst the animals, and good for you!
LOVE your latest art showing. It is so decorative and beautiful with the colours you chose. Wonderful style. The sort of "different" art that I love. smile

DOUG... Please take care and I hope you can beat your health problem. smile
