Welcome Gemeo.
Get stuck in. Don't be shy. Post away...you'll not be a `newbie' for long.
There's a chat room too.

The chat room has just been `updated'. I've not been in it much since then (and usually just before I go to bed so I'm logging out anyway).

Can someone tell me please, what the amber/orange dot beside ones name means? I know red is offline, green is online, but the amber/orange is for??? And how is it activated?

I think it means one is still hovering around, Mac Thistle. Shifting from topics and then going over to play games, or gone into the chatroom.

Hmm yes think it might mean gone to the chat room as I often see it beside a members name and they are more often than not in chat...thanks GB

Amber means they haven't been active on G.Ups for approx 15 to 20 minutes.
Sometimes they may have even already logged out. Occasionally I have gone off to some other thing on the internet & come back on here (although not actually signed in again) & I have noticed my own light (or dot) is amber. So it must take a certain number of minutes to actually turn red to show you are offline. As soon as I log in again my light goes green of course.
When one is still on the games or the chatline, the light remains green also, because you are 'active' at that time. Basically for as long as you are still clicking on to various things your light will always remain green, until approx. 15 minutes after your last activity.

Thanks Loyal, that explains it a lot better. Bit like traffic lights eh? Stop, pause and go.

Some times it pays to snoop around recently joined and wondered what the coloured filled cirlcles were. Red etc as well as snooping around it pays to ask.

I joined in April and have really only responded to posts that were `current'.

However, these last couple of nights I've not been able to sleep so I'm going waaaaay back on each thread and commenting on some old posts that have taken my interest.
